A long time ago, I did a Software Update that included something to do with firmware. My MacBook froze in the middle, and I think it finished the update, but now I always get a pop-up that says that nothing can be found that needs the firmware update. Does anyone know how to take that update out of my start up process? I checked the StartUp and StartUp Items folders. No dice.

Thanks.

Try re-applying the firmware update; maybe it won't freeze this time.

No, it says I don't need it. I think it did finish after it restarted. Can I delete firmware update files without my computer messing up?

My Macbook did the same thing. This is a firmware update for the Superdrive DVD/CD and all you need to do is put a DVD or CD in the drive and let it update. After that te notice will go away.

So reboot with a disc in the drive should fix your problem.
