ok i am thinking about adding ram to my pb (probably not now, but soon, maybe within 6 months?)

anyway here are a few questions that poped to mind:

1. do i void my warrenty or whatever by adding my own ram rather than having apple do it?

2. is it easy to do?

3. whats the best brand and place to buy off the internet

4. what exactly will i have to do (can anyone show pics of their ram change or something?)

thanks

1. no

2. yes.

3. Check the thread on cheap ram

4. Check a thread from a few days ago.

5. Why wait? The more ram, the better your experience will be.

The 256 MB RAM that ship with the 12" PB are soldered to the mainboard. There is no second slot.

All you need is a size 00 or 0 Philips screwdriver.

Do you have a 12? The 17s (and I think 15s) have two slots side-by-side. My 17 came with 512 and I added 512 right there (didn't buy from Apple so ram was affordable). Later, I sold one of the 512s and added a 1GB stick. Down the road, I may do the same thing and bump it up to 2GB (which you can do on the 15s and 17s).
