Hi,

I am visiting uk and will be going back to India soon. I have fallen in love with Powerbook and want to buy it.

I came to know that I can claim VAT while going back so wanted to know any shops that offer such facility. I need to fill up a form while making the purchase which needs to be produced at the airport to claim VAT. I don't think onlise sellers offer such things.

Is anyone aware of such shops? I stay in Milton Keynes, MK9 3LQ.

Cheers,
Ashish

Actually all shops should be able to provide the form necessary plus there should be a place at the airport that refunds the VAT.

Is the VAT in India less than in the UK? Because you'll have to declare your computer at the Indian customs and pay for customs + the local VAT.

As per current law, one can carry a laptop without paying duty and there is no VAT system in India.

This link says not all shops offer tax free shopping.

No VAT in India? Wow. I always thought it was a great country, but this makes it even better.

Anyway, regarding your problem: as far as I know only stores in tourist areas do this VAT refund thing. You might want to try large department stores in London. Harrod's used to carry Macs, but that was a while ago.
