Hello,

I am new here, I have a question about replacing my internal harddrive in my G3/400 mhz Firewire edition.

The current one is a IBM ATA-66 4200 RPM, IBM id nr is DJSA-210, it's a 10 gb one

I was thing about putting in one of these :
Hitachi HD 2.5'' 40 GB TravelStar 5400 rpm UDMA 100 8 MB

now my question is:

in the specifications of my original harddisk they also speak about ATA-5, in the specifications of the new one they refer to ATA-6. and what is the ATA-66 about. So what is the diffirence between the two and will this new harddisk work in my G3.

I am confused in this matter.

Thanx.

Mike

It will work. At ATA-66 though, since your PB can't do ATA-100.
