I am planning on buying a mouse for my powerbook, the portable pro one with retractable cord seems like a perfect match, but the ms Intellimouse bluetooth looks so "cool". I kind of think it was be impressive to use a mouse that is not plugged into the laptop... I'm sure this is part of the selling point of bluetooth mice.
But will it be a battery killer that is not worth the WOW factor? CAn i test this by leaving bluetooth on all the time, or is it different if i was actually using a bluetooth device with it?
Anyone have experience?p.s. whomakes that retractable cord mouse, is it kensington?

yes, it is made by kensington. It's the Pocketmouse Pro.

Anybody else know anything more about if having Bluetooth turned on reduces battery life? When I take my PowerBook to school (and won't be using any BT devices with it), should I turn BT off?

Turning Bluetooth and Airport off in the menubar really mean cutting physical power off these components?

Yeah, because think about it...your computer is no longer actively searching for wireless networks and/or Bluetooth devices. Turning off Airport when on batt power and not using wireless helps improve battery life BIG TIME. I'm just wondering about Bluetooth though...

Bluetooth uses significantly lower power than 802.11b/g. So I doubt that turning it off will increase battery life very much.
