Does Finder have a facility to group files by date, kind, size etc as in Windows Explorer? A screen shot of what I mean can be found here.

Not in exactly the same way. It can order them by date or you can make a smart folder to display all files with certain properties (e.g., all 20+ MB files made yesterday).

Can I create a SmartFoler that will orgaize items in the manner of Windows Explorer? I want to see files that were created/modified "Today", "Yesterday","1 Week ago", "2 Weeks ago", "1 Month ago" etc. or files in groups by file type. I do not want to create new folders (Smart or not). I already have my documents broken into folders ( e.g. Financial Reports, Sales Receipts ) and having to recreate that structure in SmartFolder form would be more work than it is worth.
Why is Finder missing a "Group By" feature?
