The availability in-store is pretty mixed. I had one suburban NYC Apple store swear up and down that not only were they not available in-store, they "never" would be. A quick call to an Apple store 15 minutes away -- they had several in stock and I picked one up.

Go figure.

I have 5 Apple Stores with 15 minutes of me (if I drive fast and there's no traffic), and another 3 within 30 minutes (again, driving fast without traffic.

I'm going to guess Los Angeles -- everytime I visit family out there I am amazed at all of the Apple stores (while Manhattan has one).
