Any sufficiently fresh muscled organism will move when you add salt (like with soy sauce or sushi tamari). The ions in the solute will stimulate the nerves, resulting in muscle movement.

That doesn't mean it ain't dead yet.

Also, that looks delicious.

Fancy science-speak aside, it was still moving.

It was only moving because somebody added salt.

A dead guy will move if you kick his arm. That doesn't mean you can't eat him.

Also: now I'm craving sushi hard.

Home delivery sushi is the best invention ever. (And yes, this post made me order some and shove it down my gullet.)

If you guys think that's weird, check out the dancing squid: Dancing squid bowl dish in Hakodate - YouTube

Like Spheric Harlot said, it's just the salt triggering a biochemical response. It's very dead. Apply a current to a dead person, and those limbs would certainly flail!

So if I kill someone and then pour salt on them, they'll move around? Awesome!

That doesn't sound too bad. After eating eggs for over a year for weightlifting purposes, I'd scarf down a boiled bird fetus in a jiffy.

Looks delicious. I've also eaten live prawns: they were brought to us in a jar of ice and we were supposed to wait until they stop moving … mostly. Needless to say, I've never eaten seafood that fresh.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
