I have a linksys 802.11b wireless router. It seems awfully slow when I transfer files on the local network between my laptops and my desktop mac. What is the maximum file transfer speed anyone has seen using 802.11b? I have heard different things like it isn't true 11Mb because of halfduplexing.

I am seeing maybe 100-200k a sec. Is this normal? Anyone got any tips on speeding this thing up?

If your hardware is optimized, you should get at least twice what you're seeing. It isn't a problem with the half-duplex nature of the connection, because the packets are interleaved (tx and rx take turns). With full signal quality, you should have much better throughput than you report. Are you transfering files that could be split up across your disk? Fragmented files take longer to transfer.
