how can i tell if i'm purchasing a used refurbished powerbook?

I'm looking to pick up a used powerbook to just use to surf the net and was wondering if there is any way to check if the powerbook i'm purchasing is refurbishe?

on my refurbished ibook, under the keyboard, the serial number sticker says "Apple Certified Reconditioned Product"

Same thing on my powerbook. Only its in the battery area on the serial sticker..

I purchased refurbished once, and I got a plain brown cardboard box with text instead of the shiny new Apple box with pictures of the product.

Under About this Mac, you'll find that the serial number will start with an R.
