Damn I just restarted my machine after the batter update.

Two restarts in one day, reminds me of days gone by, no wait that was from bombs, never mind off to hit the software update again

The 10.3.2 Update delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for Mac OS X v10.3 "Panther" and is recommended for all users.

Key enhancements include:

- improved file sharing and directory services for mixed Mac and PC networks
- more robust printing to PostScript printers
- improved font management
- updated Mail and Address Book applications
- new ATI and NVIDIA graphics drivers
- FileVault, FireWire 800, WebDAV and USB Printing improvements from Update 10.3.1
- previous standalone security updates

For detailed information on this Update, please visit this website: http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n25652

Important Note:
Apple has identified an issue with external FireWire hard drives using the Oxford 922 bridge chip-set with firmware version 1.02 that can result in the loss of data stored on the disk drive. Even with the improvements available in this update, Apple recommends you update the firmware on your FireWire drive. Please contact your drive manufacturer for more information.

Looks like a major update. Sad to be on dial up right now. Have to wait with that big one until next year.

yes it is so the one you download from hotline is most likely safe.

And before anyone asks it DOES NOT fix the G5 chirping problem.

G5 chirping? What's that? I've got a G5 at work and I've never heard a peep out of it, let alone a chirp! Weirdness with inside fans though, open the internal (clear plastic) door - fans come on as they should do. Close it again - fans stay on as they should NOT do. Think it might be a dodgy microswitch. No biggie.

Close call here!

During my update my Mac froze while the install was optimizing so I had to hard restart.

It was a little slow on the restart but it came back up I was still on 10.3.1.

I installed the update again and it went fine.

Scary situation but all seems fine.

The one I downloaded from hotline?? I'm still running 10.3.1. I asked a simple fooking question and you had to give a smart ass remark...Anyways, does this update fix the "double shadows" underneath the files name on the desktop?

I've noticed a big increase in the amount of time it takes to reboot/login/load the desktop and menus so far....I've restarted several times to make sure...that's disappointing, oh well....

This looks like another stinker. It slowed down my powerbook considerably. Lots of people on this and other boards seem to be having the same problem.

Edit: OK...nevermind, it is fast again. Strange.

Yes

Install went w/o problems. No change in SCSI badness, all else looks same so far. Ran suite of programs (Photoshop 7, Illustrator 10, NetNewsWire, Tex Edit Plus (4.6), Cocktail 3.3, Maintain, Snapz Pro X 1.09, Disk Utility) All no problems so far. But I did not have problems before. Still have not done new and improved Font Book. I'll wait for others on File Vault, FireWire.

10.3.2 did not install or fix the stupid Perl missing man files problem or fix a goofy Unix postfix mail problem with mystery messages I have.

Now there is a sleep problem. Put G4 Power Mac to sleep. Wait 10 seconds, wakes from sleep with a loud click. Never happened before.

I installed the update and everything seemed OK. I ran several applications and they all performed just fine. However, I walked away to eat dinner and when I cam back my machine was in sleep mode. That in itself is not a problem but when I tried to wake my machine it stopped responding and then gave me a kernel panic. I haven't seen one of those since the early days of 10.1.

Just installed 10.3.2 on my 17 inch powerbook, and boot times definitely have gone up. Past the boot screen, I always get the beach ball after the dock loads, waiting for the menu bar to load. Anyone else get this?

Don't see any login time increase here. I've got quite a few things in my startup items, and they all take a while, but no real stall. I logged in my clean user that I keep for troubleshooting, and it took about 10 seconds at most to get a functional Finder.

I will say that this is the first time I've ever run an update that didn't need any permissions repairs.

After installation, the first boot was slow. But I ran the daily, weekly, and monthly scripts, and repaired permissions and all seems normal again.

Mail is updated from 1.3 to 1.3.2 and address book is updated from 3.1 to 3.1.1 Hard to contain my excitement. Still not able to print out selected text directly (using textedit is a real pain) and still not able to print out a single selected contact. At least it is free - maybe next year.

Just FYI, you can alwyas select the text and use the services menu to move it to TextEdit via "Services/TextEdit/New Window Containing Selection."

It's not a total solution to your issue, but it may be a bit faster than old fashioned copy-paste.

Unfortuantely bugs still exist in Mail updated by Mac OS 10.3.2. If you drag an attachment (ie MS Word) from Mail to Desktop it will be read-only. If, however, you use the "Save All" button it will be read-write.

That's what I was referring to. I guess what frustrates me is that Apple gives me all sorts of window dressing and genie effects but when it comes down to simple features that other apps provide, like entourage which hasn't been updated in two + years, they simply can't come up with the improvements. If they seriously want people to use their applications and promote their OS they sooner or later are going to have to step up to the plate. The competition is heating up, Linux is moving hard on the desktop - Apple needs to start providing the needed refinements to their core programs. End of rant - sorry, I've had a tough day at the shopping malls.
