Sound not working.

	Just a simple question. I press the volume up button on the keyboard and the sound graphic appears but no bars are highlighted and no sound comes out the speakers. In the sound prefs, the volume bars are dimmed gray. Mute isnt on. It's an iBook 700. Anyone have any idea whats going on?
