anyone know when?

must be soon, coctail 3.7.2 was just released, and "addresses compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.4.7".

what's new in .7??

You can read the rumor sites. Nobody who is actually using 10.4.7 can comment on what's new, per the Apple developer NDA.

There isn't anything "new" probably anyway. Just bugfixes.

If not thursay, then monday at the soonest. Apple rarely posts updates on friday/weekend due to the large numbers of updates that (supposedly) go wrong dont get addressed immediately.

funny, as i read thru the posts here, i remember posting something like this when the previous update was being discussed:

"it will be out the day after the day before it is released"

And that is what you all are: inverted Nothings...with potential" (Sun Ra)

actually it will be out the day before you knew that it was out yesterday, which in reality, is tomorrow, but only after today has passed
Personally I find it hilarious that you have the hots for my gramma. Especially seeins how she is 3x your age, and makes your Brittney-Spears-wannabe 30-something wife look like a rag doll who went thru WWIII with a burning stick of dynamite up her a** :)

You guys are all excited about 10.4.7? Like it's going to be all that different from 10.4.6? I wouldn't expect much of a change with that "upgrade." You guys must have a lot of time on your hands, or want to be the first to post "installing now" in this forum ... I mean, running Software Update is not all that thrilling, really.

Personally, I don't look forward to these updates, because it requires me getting access to my 13-yr old daughter's iMac G5 so I can do the update. That can take days or weeks, but that's fine, gives me time to read about all the "issues" people had and anecdotes provided in MacFixit. I work all day, so it's hard for me to wrench her from the iMac for the 30-min it takes me to (a) run a complete backup, (b) run Diskwarrior, and then (c) repair permissions and then run Software Update, during the few hours I have in the evening. Best chance I have is for her to get lured away by some junky TV show, like American Idol, and then I can pounce, but like all 13-yr olds, she has the attention span of a flea so she can reappear at any time, "bored," wanting her iMac back, annoyed that I'm "messing with" her computer.

My work Mac is a Powerbook G4 running 10.3.9 and there's no reason to bother going to Tiger because it will be "replenished" in several months by my employer, when no doubt I'll get a nice new shiny Intel Mac. So, nothing to do there except install a Security Update now and then, or a new version of Quicktime. Thrilling.

My wife uses an older G3 iMac running 10.2.8 and she refuses to let me change it at all, she loves it just the way it is I hate to say it, but that computer is as stable and trouble free as anything I've ever seen -- never a problem of any sort, in fact it has never had a single kernel panic or anything like that, and it's a 2001 iMac.

I guess I could get interested when 10.5 comes out, but 10.4.7? ... sorry, it just doesn't interest me all that much.

10.4.7 means big fixes and two-finger-tapping on my MBP. I want both. I want 10.4.7.

Well, it was a better post than much of the corny rubbish that some people littered the thread with.

Perhaps ... or maybe simply offering a different perspective. If you don't like it, you're free to read the next post ... there always is one to read, after all.

As for having "a lot to say," well I guess my total of ~ 40 posts to these forums doesn't really compare to your 2700+ posts.

Sounds like you're creating more work for yourself than is really necessary. Why not just be normal, and set her iMac up to check for updates weekly?

Run a complete backup? Run DiskWarrior? That's almost as ritualistic/superstitious as Windows users who run a registry cleaner every week, and insist on defragmenting every day.

Gawd almighty, that's a lot of safety precautions to take for a 13 year old.
Is your daughter an FBI agent? Bill Gates?

Some say you can never be too careful, but I think this takes the cake.

It's not a bad thing to run Disk Warrior and do a backup once in a while. There are thousands of photos and music files on that computer, not just the kid's files.

But back to the main topic -- what are the specific things you are looking to see "fixed" in 10.4.7, versus 10.4.6? I would expect 10.5 to be a significant change, but what are the problems in 10.4.6 that you want to see fixed in 10.4.7?
