Posted here for your amusement. Worst cars ever Top 10.

I don't know if I agree with all the results, but I found the comments very funny

All shitty cars but before my time really...

My new worst car ever vote goes to early 90's Mazda Pickup trucks. My friend had one that caught on fire, twice. When it did run he'd have to shift it into neutral when he stopped and rev the engine, then quickly drop it into drive in order to not stall it. I saw one the other day on the highway, on fire as well. Most are rust-buckets and run like shit, plus they have no power whatsoever (it seemed when my friend floored his it simply made more noise and went the same speed). Plus the heater was stuck on heat and level 3 fan (try doing that in the summer). Eventually it shit the bed and blew the engine. But it also saw a few accidents as well.

In the snow, rear wheel trucks are bad, and tiny ones are even worse, while going <10 Mph around a turn while snowing it simply went sytraight into a telephone pole, with no real damage (new radiator) he just drove it home. A related one was the next month during a snowstorm (he had 12 cinderblocks in the back this time) he slipped off the road doing 5Mph and went into a 5 foot deep drainage ditch.

The truck sucked but it will hold a place in all our hearts, and a place at the top of my list.

I'd definately agree with Yugo. Was driven in one a good 15 years or so ago and it certainly made an impact on me.

No comparison with the Trabi.

The Yugo had a fuel pump. The Trabant was drip-feed with the gas tank mounted over the carburettor. Plus the Yugo had a gas gauge (versus a dipstick), plus 2 extra cylinders, plus could exceed 40mph . . .

I'd like to add for your consideration the Chevy Citation. My parents bought one in 1980. The POS spent more time in the shop than on the road the first year and basically fell apart piece by piece over the next three years. I swear they were made from recycled Chevettes.

Years ago my roommate bought a Yugo GVX - the sport model with alloy wheels (with Tigar radials) and a 5 speed. About a week into its life, the seatbelt warning buzzer sounded continuously. The mechanic reached under the dash and unplugged an electrical connnector that had about 50 wires running thru it. The buzzing stopped and everything else still worked fine.

My favorite quote from one of the 'top 10 worst cars' comments:

You'd have as much chance of cornering at speed in the thing as you would of nailing jelly to the wall!

Two thoughts-

The Pontiac Fiero I had should have made the list. I once drove over a railroad crossing and the exterior door panel fell off. While it was in the shop being repaired the lot boy totaled my car.

Quality and service

A sick ditty from my high school days -

Look at those Pintos
Ain't they heck
Crashing and burning
in every little wreck.

So if you're out
With nothing to do
Ram yourself a Pinto
And have a barbeque!

Hey! That's what I have! Mine runs fine. Not a bad college car (IMHO), other than the fact that it's a butt ugly body style and mine's an ugly beige-ish yellow color. Of course, I got mine from an old lady about a year ago who'd only put <65,000 miles on the original engine in the 20+ years she had it. I've put a few thousand on it since I got it. Still runs good. :-D

I owned a Pinto when I was younger and poorer, and it was indeed the biggest POS car, other than a Yugo! I bought it new in 1978, drove it for two years, and in 65,000 miles the following stuff went out (and this is only what I remember)

Starter
Thermostat
1 ball joint
Exhaust system
Alternator
This was all highway driving at speed limits (it wouldn't go much faster!)

The last straw was, during a heavy snowfall (after only six incheas had fallen up to that point, no big deal there), snow got under the timing belt cover, and it jumped timing a mile from the house! This was out in the country, so I had to walk back home, and take the other car to work! I told my wife to get have it towed, get it fixed, and we traded it in on a diesel Rabbit, which gave us 8 years and 245,000 miles of flawless service!

What was the car (1970's American hatchback) where the chassis hit the fuel tank in a rear end smash, puncturing the tank and blowing up the car. Surely that has to count!

Niles Crane: "I don't believe what just happened, a hunchback car hit my Mercedes!"

Frasier Crane: "That's a hatchback, Niles."

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
