Ok this is driving me nuts, and I must find the answer to protect my sanity. I have a 1.25GHz PB 15" with 10.3. Whenever I am about to step away from my computer, I turn the brightness all the way down to preserve the screen. I have the screensaver set for 10 minutes, but sometimes I don't want to wait that long. When I come back, I turn the brightness all the way back up, and IT KEEPS LOGGING ME OUT!! Everything will freeze for a couple of minutes, and I know it is closing everything down in the background.
A couple of side notes: I do NOT have fast user switching enabled, and I don't have QuickKeys or any keyboard software installed. Is this a Panther "feature", and if so, how the hell do I turn it off???
Thanks!

In Security preferences, do you have automatic logout enabled? If so, turn it off.

sounds like the computer is crashing. Next time it does it, open in HARD_DRIVE_ROOT/Library/Logs/CrashReporter the login_window log and see if the last entry corresponds to the time of the crash. (HARD_DRIVE_ROOT is your hard drive name, of course)

I'm having the same problem. I can replicate this problem though by covering both speakers with your hands in a fairly dim room. It will log me out. I'm getting this replaced anyway so I havne't bothered to find out

Couchingtiger-
That could be the problem! I thought it was just a shortcut to a logoff command, but in actuality it could be crashing. I pulled up the CrashReporter, and there are definately reports at the same time as the logout. Does anyone know a utility or resource to translate the reports from CrashReporter? Here is one of them:
Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000
