i've seen a lot of screenshots with a buddy list transperent permanent on the desktop. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this. Also if anyone can help with any other desktop additions like that I would appreciate it. I prefer them to always be there rather than through a widget.

it could be konfabulator running a (konfabulator) widget.

The album art and song information on the screen can be done with you contol:tunes from you software. Neat little app.

Without being able to see the picture anymore, I'd still dare to venture that they're dashboard widgets that are running in developer mode (?), thus visible on desktop. Macosxhints had something on this, and there's app or few in macupdate & versiontracker.


Ok, found the pic after all, the weather thingy... I'd say it's konfabulatior widget for konf is up and running in menu bar, also, adium is running and with suitable theme... one can make wonders if given enough screen real estate

thanks for the replies. i was dying for these things. haven't figured out the album art and such yet. does it automatically link to a server and download a cover for the song being played or do you have to insert the image?

I put the pictures in iTunes myself. I don't know if they can be downloaded automatically.
The software the link goes to allows you to customize the message you see on the desktop. You can change fonts, size, placement of the text, album art, and place color and so of the window you see on your desktop.
