Same here...99% but i think its normal. When i charge it, it reaches 100% but after some time goes down to 99.

Same here. When I charge and it reaches its limit, it will go to either 99 or 100%. No rhyme or reason as far as I can tell.

Oftentimes, the battery charge indicator says the charge level is at 99%, even though its full. Might be a glitch but it shouldn't mean anything bad. It might stay at 99% for quite some time while charging until it hits 100% (which I think might be normal, or at least that's the behaviour my iBook G4 frequently displays).
If you're paranoid, get the app called X-Charge. It shows the power level of your battery over time, showing you your usage pattern. There are a number of other battery apps in VersionTracker as well, such as Battery Endurance Meter, Battery Stats X, and XBattery.

This is standard for all Apple 'Books. The power management will charge a laptop up to full and then stop charging and let it run off battery for a short while, then begin charging again.
I believe this is to reduce wear on the battery as constant charging damages a Li-on battery, IIRC.

i am paranoid. after a dead battery in ibook (it last for 15 mins in the end, before repalcement), i use xcharge.
mine gpes tp 99 %. or actually to 100 %, but it stays 10-15 mins in 100 % charge, then drops to 99 % for days. well, powerbook, but still the same issue.. it stays forver in 99%, not in 100 %

I dont think that its apple's battery malfunction that it stays at 99%...My school sells IBM notebooks and all the students batteries are always at 99% and its a normal thing. So I am assuming that it is normal. But who am I to say since I am still waiting for my ibook.

I think it's normal for any lithium-ion battery, including the iBook G3s and probably even way back to the first model to use such a battery (PowerBook 3400 series, I think).
