Can the RAZR vc3 not play MP3 files as ringtones or what? What type of file do you want to convert the MP3s into?

Well in my case the .mp3 is way to big (2mb) and I need to cut the track down in order to make it a usable ringtone.

I'm more interested in learning how to make Polyphonic MIDIs for my Nokia.

Well forget Garageband. I just downloaded Audacity and the LAME MP3 encoder for OS X and made myself a .mp3 ringtone in about 2 minutes and sent it to my RAZR via Bluetooth and it works great.

You can't convert audio to MIDI, it just doesn't work like that. MIDIs have to be made manually.

iTunes can re-encode your files into lower bitrates for smaller file sizes. As for cutting out just a portion of a song for use as a ringtone, QuickTime Pro can do it (and encode your file) but there are probably good free programs (like Shawn Grimes mentioned, Audacity).

Do you people with RAZRs have Verizon? I have a RAZR with Verizon and I heard that they took the feature for using MP3s as a ringtone out of the phone...

I use Mp3 Trimmer and Lame Brain.

Mp3 Trimmer cuts the Mp3s for me and it's pretty accurate:

Then use Lame Brain to re-encode the file to a lower bit-rate for space reasons. I like 64kbps.

I used QuickTime Pro to trim the mp3s down then sent them to my Alltel RAZR via Bluetooth.
