I'm going to buy my dad a U2 iPod for his birthday which is coming up, and I know he'll instantly want to dock it to the home stereo. I think a white dock would look pretty gross with a U2 edition iPod, so does anyone know of any third party companies that sell black docks, or any way to color it without destroying it?

Yes, I've seen that one, perhaps I should have specified that, but I don't feel like spending 60 dollars on a dock, so I'm hoping for other solutions if anyone's got them..

Actually, GORDYmac's second link was rather helpful, to say the least...

Yes, except that $61 is an outrageous price to pay for a dock that's recolored. I had the same results when I searched, and that's why I asked, because I have no intention of paying 50% more than a dock is originally worth simply to have it in black.

You can take the dock apart pretty easily and hit it with some spray paint. Just get Just get a weee small screw driver in between the grey pad thing on the bottom and the edge of the case and pry gently. Not sure what kind of paint to use. Go to a hobbie shop maybe and see what kinds of paints they have for plastics.

Michael: Hasn't everything been sort of discovered now by like Magellan and Cortez?
Buster: Oh, yeah yeah, those guys did a pretty good job.
