I've read a couple of the threads here on postfix and I'm still looking for some help. Basically, I want to enable postfix so that I can send email through my server (a static ip). I'd like to use IMAP if possible. And if I can enable authenication that would be great too. This seems like it should be relatively easy. Are there any how-tos with Panther in mind? The stepwise ones are old and I know that postfix is default on 10.3 (and I've read that cyrus-imapd is too). Any pointers on getting it working relatively securely? TIA.

torifile,

Just to chip in that I'm interested in occasionally being able to be my own smtp server.

My isp's server is unreliable and it would be great to be able to bypass them when needs be.

I'm on a dynamic address.

Have you figured anything out?

Simon

Thanks for all your replies!

I have everything working now.

It's all amazingly simple once you know how... :-)

Not yet, but I saw that yesterday. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
