My sister is graduated from university and for a present I suggested an eMac plus an ipod She can get edu prices so it comes out to a good deal. She is really into getting an ipod...but I am curious, how good is the eMac? She isn't a die hard mac user (such as I) but I figure she is savvy enough to muddle through OSX.

Basically she wants a computer for:

- burning music and sorting music----although with an ipod there shouldn't be any burning
- watching the occasional dvd
- word processing
- email
- internet
- probably solitaire

so basic stuff.

Is an eMac a good choice? (I'm thinkin hell ya, but just thought I would get the pulse of the macgeeks in here anyway.)

*lol*

Overpowered ?

What else do you suggest from the current lineup ?
An iBook, that is more expensive, just because it's slower ?

Remember the iBook is also portable, so it has its pluses. An eMac would do fine, it will grow with her over time, meaning yes it does have more power then she will need for what she does right now but later down the line it will keep on going cause it has legs to grow if you know what I mean. The price is right, grab one!
