Since rebooting this morning APE has died on me, taking all my haxies with it.
The APE preference pane seems to be running, but no haxies work:
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling APE (both 1.5.1 and 2.0.1) and SS but it won't work. In the continuing absence of any kind of support from the software distributors (seven question FAQs notwithstanding) does anyone here have any suggestions on what might have gone wrong?

Have you tried deleting all the files associated with APE and SS? Such as the .plist.

I uninstalled both using their own uninstall routines, then deleted everything that Spotlight turned up that contained 'unsanity' in my Home/Library folder.

Was APE installed for all users ? If so, you could create a new account - install SS in that one and see if things work. Depending on the outcome, your solution can be a) system level or b) user level.
Crossing fingers for you here…

OK it's definitely APE that is broken, I tried installing just ClearDock and it doesn't work. In a new account things work fine, however.
I don't understand what could be causing this, I haven't changed anything recently - it just stopped working. Whatever it is, it survives a complete uninstallation/reinstallation of everything APE-related.
At least we know it's a user-level problem. Now where do we go from here?

My suggestion would be to scan the new user's Prefs folder, view them as a list by date.
Hopefully you'll find some APE related files, so you might find out what (corrupt ?) files to track down on your own user's account.

But I removed everything to do with APE and Unsanity from the computer, Prefpanes, plists, .apes, application support files, reg files.... everything. Then rebooted. Then reinstalled just Cleardock and it doesn't work.
Something somewhere is conflicting with APE, but I'll be damned if I know what.

You could launch Console (should be in the Utilities folder by default) and read some logs in search for conflict descriptions.
I'm a complete n00b in this app, but perhaps someone…
