Will a higher CPU speed help framerates for gaming? Say Apple keeps the same ATI 1600 in the next revision MBP but puts in a Merom 2.33. Compare that with a Core duo 2.0 with the same ATI 1600...will I get better gaming framerates?

I am certainly not an expert, but I would think so. The addition of the core duo 2 in the imac using the same card, same logic board, and same processor speed gave like a 20% bump in fps in unreal tournament when compared to the core duo. Check out the imac review at macworld.com.

The 17 and 20 inch still use the x1600. The 24 inch has the much better nVidia card.
