Don't you hate it when you double click an app, it bounces maybe once or twice in the dock and then disappears?

It's doing that right now for two different apps.

It would be nice if Mac OS X gave me some sort of error or explanation as to why the app isn't launching, instead of writing it so some hidden log file.

That does seem to happen with a lot of powerpc apps on an intel machine. The only fix I have is to log out and log back in.
Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

Yes all of them are older Carbon PPC apps that aren't a package like typical cocoa apps but rather just a single executable file.

It has happened to me on a G5, but just twice in my G5's life (two years)...
The app was Filemaker Developer 8!, so, not an older carbon PPC...
I had to restart, the log off/in wouldn't solve it...

If you don't want to reboot, try to kill the "translated" process from Terminal or in Activity Monitor.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.

And open Console.app, and clicky your way to CrashReporter/AppName.crash.log to get more info on what happened.

It doesn't "crash" though. It just bounces in the dock once or twice and then disappears. Nothing else happens.
