there was a little app in OS 9 that would kill the help button. Has anyone done something like this for X? i'm getting pretty tired of hitting the help button by accident and having to wait while it launches, which it is always slow to do.

Could be dangerous but what would happen if the Help Center.app was deleted from /system/core services/?

I don't suggest this really. Why not pop down to the dock, right click on the icon as it is boucing and select "Force Quit"

I don't want to get rid of the help app, only disable it from the keyboard.

Killing Help in dock is already what i do. I'm trying to improve my situation, to keep Help from launching at all from the keyboard. I work on large Photoshop images, and use all the keys around the Help key, and I accidentally hit it all the time. When launches when you have a few big apps open, it causes my system to lurch. Having to stop what i'm doing and quit/kill it takes time. i'd rather nip it in the bud.

Go to system preferences underneath the apple icon in the apple menu

Click on the keyboard preference

Turn off full keyboard access

The next time you accidently hit the help button a question mark will come up

To get rid of it just click on a window or apple menu.

hope that helps
