Toast 6 has begun freezing when writing DVDs (both -R and -RW) to my Pioneer 105 drive. It will freeze when writing the lead out. It does this whether it's a data DVD or a video DVD.

It's not showing up as red in the Force Quit Applications window, but doesn't respond when I click on it's icon in the dock, it just sits there and does nothing. If I force quit, the DVD will mount fine, so it's not burning coasters per se, but i'm not able to verify the data that was written to make sure I'm not burning coasters.

I never had this problem with Toast 5 until I installed Toast 6. I tried to burn a DVD this morning using Toast 5, and it hung at the same point, and displayed the same symptoms.

i'm starting to think it's a problem with some resource Toast 6 installs.

Anyone know of a fix?

I'm having exactly the same problem, and I had to force-quit Toast, which produced an unplayable DVD.

I wonder if it's a Panther's issue: in fact, I tried to burn the same DVD in the finder (copy + burn), and at the very end, the DVD icon disappeared, and the computer logged out automatically (???!!!!).

However, the burnt DVD is playable.

Updating Toast to 6.0.3 seemed to fix the problems.

I've been on Toast 6.03 and Panther using a lacie d2 Pioneer DVR106D firewire DVD Burner .I have the "Buffer underrun"protection on.. Never experienced a glitch. You might be right, it might be the 6.03 version that does the trick unless its your Firmware that needs updating. You would be best placed to know that.

firmware is 1.30 (which i'm pretty sure is the latest), in a 867 MDD, set on cable select. Like I said, going to 6.0.3 seemed to fix the problem.
