The Star Trek poll inspired me to put one up myself:

Which science fiction show is the best to ever grace television?

I was never particularly impressed with firefy. From the horrendous theme music to the horrible dialog, the show sucked all around.

Edit: but that's just my opinion

Firefly was excellent. It's ashame it left.

As far as all time, it's hard to know if what I saw as a kid was really as good as I thought it was then. I thought Space 1999 was way cool.

I think a lot of people would have appreciated the movie more if they were familiar with the TV show. I watched the movie at the theater and dozed a bit. Then, I watched the TV episodes on DVD, and saw the movie a second time. I liked it much better the second time.

Straight up Sci-Fi: Firefly or BSG.

Comedy Sci-Fi: Futurama or Red Dwarf (the first few series more than the later ones).

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I heard the first direct to DVD movie is coming out at the end of the year, and then early 2008 it will be split up into 3 or 4 episodes and then aired on TV (like they did with the Family Guy movie).

It is late. Almost half past 2 in the AM. I have no idea why your question makes no sense to me, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

But I do know they're making a movie based on the series/books. Out in 2009.

Without any doubt it must be

THE X-FILES

Any other answer is just silly.

I liked the first few seasons of Xfiles. Then it just turned into some stupid show with interlocking conspiracies about smoking man that nobody followed.

I agree with Rob. X-Files was awesome for the first 3 seasons. After that, it was a chore to watch. The series finale was just horrible.

What's the deal here? There's only 2 options, and they're both Firefly. Farscape is the best ever.

I liked farscape although it was very hard to get into, the movie helped alot.

Firefly never did it for me for whatever reason. Maybe the cowboys in space theme was just too ridiculous (along with the dialog, gets old fast). I loved the movie though so maybe I should go back and watch them all.

I'm going to have to throw Clone Wars into the ring.

Maybe you should make a poll on the best movie ever to grace movie screens. Babel or My Secret Garden.

I voted for option B, but I didn't think there'd be quite a differential:

Anybody else seeing this?

But yeah, Firefly was awesome. The new BSG is my current favourite.

I have trouble comparing Firefly to other sci-fi. It's really not the same genre except in that they had a ship capable of moving through a vacuum.

Incidentally, thanks to everyone for reminding me of Lexx. That show was hilarious.

Firefly, BSG, Dr. Who (the new series), ST TNG

Favorites I can thin of now. I'm told I would have liked Babylon 5 and Farscape, but I never saw them.
