Windows XP on Mac Pro question

Needing to buy a version of Windows to put on a Mac Pro but I'm a little confused as to what I should get and was looking for some input. I'm kind of weary about Vista right now so I was thinking about buying a version of xp with a free upgrade to Vista later. I see there is a 64bit version of XP pro and I'm wondering if anyone uses this version on their mac pro and what would be the advantages over the 32 bit xp version?

I would highly reccomend staying away from any 64 bit version of Windows. You cannot run 32 bit applications in it without emulation. You cannot use 32 bit drivers.
EVERYTHING has to be 64 bit. It's a nightmare from a hardware & software compatibility standpoint, ESPECIALLY considering that, as far as I know, Boot Camp does not come in a 64 bit version, which means you'd need to find all the audio, bluetooth, Airport and other drivers in 64 bit variants. I don't know if this is even possible.
In other words, there are very few, if any adavantages to 64 bit Windows to 32 bit. Go for 32 bit.

I'll agree with the 64 bit bits, but the applications don't need to run in emulation per se - the Intel chip doesn't emulate 32 bits in the 64 bit OS - 32 bit apps are run natively in a Windows WOW layer. If you call that emulation, so be it - I wouldn't.
It's the drivers that are the problem. The applications... either not really, or less so, depending on your perspective.

The only advantage of 64bit it that it can handle more then 2gigs of ram. Right now I have 3gigs in my pro but since I am running xp32 I am capped a 2 gigs. Very upsetting. If I were you I would wait a couple of weeks to see about Vista. I haven't heard anything really bad about it and I think it will blow xp away.
I also hear to xp64 sucks for gaming, but that is just what I have heard..I have no proof.

John, XP (and other Windows 32-bit OSs) don't allocate over 2GB per process, but the extra RAM will still help your system (since it's likely you run more than one process on your system - grin).
