for some reason all of a sudden there is no sound when i try and watch videos on the web. it's been driving me crazy for the past 2 weeks and i dont know what to do. can anyone help me?

What version of OS X? What web browser are you using? What format are the videos in?

What TETENAL says… if that doesn't work and you have installed the Flip4Mac codecs, go to AudioMidi Settings…

Apps / Utilities / AudioMidi Settings

and switch your frequency back to 48kHz or below (if it is higher than that).

That uses to do the trick.

holy ****. you guys are geniouses. i can't even believe that worked. what did launching garage band have to do with it anyways? thanks so much, it was driving me insane.

however, i'm also having a problems with the sound on quicktime movies. for some reason when i play mpeg files where there once was sound there is no sound any longer and the video stops a few seconds in and i have to hit pause, then play again every few seconds to make the video continue running. any answers?

nevermind. launching garage band solved all my problems. you guys are miracle workers.
