Did you see the YouTube video showing the strange display pedestal in the Apple store. Really seems to me that a phone is likely this week.

I really want a phone with a keyboard, so I'm hoping this "iPhone" Apple is about to debut has one.

I dunno, it looks sorta cheesy and might be for some cheap 3rd party iPod peripheral.

I agree with lpkmckenna, that is the most plausible mockup thus far, minus the separate call buttons. It's probably the simplest way to keep the iPod form factor without having a big ugly keyboard always in the way (or having some obfuscated touch-screen one).
It would also allow for concealing the camera lens when not in use, if it even has one; I don't think an iPod phone necessarily needs a built-in camera. It would possibly be better served as an attachment to the dock connector.
The Apple Store shitty cellphone video is also tantalizing. Though I have a hard time believing Apple Store employees would put out an empty display this early for a product that even they likely don't know about yet. They'll only probably know what the new products are the morning they're announced. Isn't that usually the case?

I would be surprised if the Apple phone does not include a camera (I know there are folks who HATE the idea), but the only phones without cameras these days are the 'budget' ones. Not including a camera will really restrict sales, basically giving the mediaplayer/phone market to Sony & Nokia.
Oh and boy it that vid garbage, the guy should have took a few stills as the still camera on that phone would have probably had better quality, so you would have had a chance on actually seeing what it looked like.

That podium is intriguing... looks real to me. However, the thing that bothers me about the iPhone rumors is that the cell phone business is deteriorating when it comes to margins. Motorola revealed that the margin on their cell phone business has declined in the most recent quarter. And we all know that Jobs does not like to get into markets that offer declining financial returns. Thus, if there is an Apple phone, people will likely be disappointed by the price, at least initially.

I'd trade in my Nokia phone for an iPhone (as long as it would work over here).

Motorola's cell phone margins are down because it relies heavily on design. This worked a few years ago when the RAZR looked far better than anything else available, but now that everyone is making impressive-looking phones, you can't use design alone to charge a lot for a phone.
Revenues are increasing at Sony Ericsson, RIM and HTC: mobile phone makers that rely on unique features to sell cell phones.
Apple has to enter the cell phone market. The biggest threat to the iPod isn't competing music and video players; the biggest threat to the iPod is mobile phones. Cell phone makers and carriers promote a number of their phones as music and/or video players in addition to phones, and with a high capacity flash memory cards they are viable alternatives to low capacity, flash memory-based iPods. And with internal flash memory in cell phones and flash memory cards increasing in capacity and lowering in price and a small but increasing number of phones with built-in hard disk drives, cell phones are on their way to making the iPod and all other pocket music and video players irrelevant.

I'll mention this only because no one else has: this is just a white Chocolate phone with an elongated screen. Anyone who likes this design a lot may want to check out that phone- especially since it doulbes as an mp3 player.
Me, I like the look of that nano mock-up. I don't care too much for slide phones, but it it is as thin as that mock up it may work very well.
