Hi there
My hardware config: G4 with ATI Rage Pro 128,
Sony 21-Inch monitor (one of this year's models).

My questions: How can I set the monitor resolution to 1600 x 1200 if there's no corresponding option available at the display settings of MacOS X?
What did I miss? (except from the fact that X is a beta version)

Thanx

If you open your system prefs, you will see only OSX recomended options but there is a customize button at the bottom, this will let you do more, but you may not be able to go to 1600x1200 but try it

I asked this same question a few days ago.
I have a similar system with the same problem. This system in OS9 with a 3rd party app worked great at 1900x resolution although I usually left it at 1600x. Now in OSX it's stuck at 1280x resolution. THis is especially annoying because OS X has such huge icons and whatall. I bought this system with OS X in mind. SO... looking forward to those 3rd party shareware (I'll pay!!!!)
My next move is to go looking for resolution settings in unix config files. Is it there?

I have the configuration and monitor. There is a monitor adapter you can buy, and It allows you to switch between VGA and 21", it also allows for higher monitor resolutions up to 1920 x 1200.
