Dammit, it's been snowing all day here! Fortunately the ground is warm enough that it's melting on the streets and sidewalks, but the grass and trees are all coated with white stuff.

When will it end?!?!?

(P.S. Twins currently leading Indians 4-2 in the 6th inning in the Metrodome, where it's always 70 degrees and cloudy.)

What is the date?
Why, it is 4/22. April 22. April. Spring. Not even really early spring.
Whassit doing here in Massachusetts? Snowing. SNowing. SNOwing. SNOW-ING.
Look, you folks in Minnestoa: We expect snow there. I mean, what exactly IS summer for you people? Couple of weeks in August? This is Massachusetts. Blackflies are out. Skunks running around. The hostas are coming up. Trees past bud stage. I mowed my lawn yesterday. We had a friggin heat wave last week. And it is snowing this morning.

I LOVE New England. Never a dull moment.

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

What is this "snow" of which you speak?

Here in Perth I'm just glad it finally rained after 3 months. Our dams are down to 18% capacity and there's a garden sprinkler ban that's going to extend through winter.

Oh, a funny boy. We got us a comedian here on the big blue marble. Well, SOMEONE's gonna have to replant my lettuce and I am nominating the big D fer that!

And Mssr. le Sore Visage- that water ban thingy? Common here. I am not too sad about the lettuce croaking. It would anyway. The winter was waaaaay too light here. No runoff. Water tables down, reservoirs way down. Not quite to 18%, but getting there. We are doing a very light garden as we fully expect to not be able to water.

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

Yup, little white flakes floating down from the sky here, too (an hour or two northwest of Maxelson).
And just the other day, we put in our window air conditioners to deal with the record-breaking heat wave.

HEY! Where'd you get a pic of my greenhouse? And who are those people in it? That's private property, Mac!

And the sign says "Trespassers will be shot on sight"!
So I jumped on the fence and I hollared at the house, "Hey what gives you the-" chik-chick BLAM!

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

I feel your pain. Last week record highs in the 80's it was great I did all kinds of yard work, went golfing and to cap it off I got to surf the web on the warm night on my porch swing (thanks to Apple's Airport). Today, freezing rain, sleet and cold for at least the next week. But that is life in Michigan: "Don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes it will change."
"This is fun, right?"

While I do miss walking around in my sandals, there is something incredibly beautiful about a thin layer of snow with areas of bright green grass poking through. It's also quite a sight to see snow on the branches of newly budding leaves. Take a look outside. It'll be gone soon.

I would have absolutely NO problem with the snow had I not just dropped $50 on hostas. It is funny and fun... except for the $50 in hostas.

Yeah last Tuesday it hit 94 degrees in the shade down here on the Cape....

Today its low 40's plus rainy and hailing... Crazy weather.

And Maxelson, you are a fool!!! You never plant anything before May 1st, we could easily still have frost man. I have learned that rule over and over again... But then again, maybe lettuce needs to be planted early (especially since I think this summer is going to be crazy hot).

Snow in April? Not unusual. SIX INCHES of snow on April 22? Unusual. Not unheard of, but unusual

Normal high for the Twin Cities this time of year? 60. So yes, it's supposed to be spring. We try to squeeze spring into April and May here, before summer arrives in June.

They say the Twin Cities is an interesting place to be a meteorologist. (Well, the Twin Cities meteorologists say that, at least.) It's at the junction of three weather zones: Arctic/Canadian cool to the north, Plains heat to the west and Gulf moisture and humidity to the southeast. And we get to watch the three of them battle it out every year.

By the way, I went shopping for lawn fertilizer this weekend. Turns out I've almost missed the season for the crabgrass pre-emergent (March-April). (Fertilize in March? What, you put it right on top of the snow? Who writes these guides?) I may have to skip straight to the May-June Weed 'n' Feed.

The cold weather + snow put me in quite the grumpy mood this morning after getting only (as per usual) 5 hours of sleep... how...... how fun!! Snow snow!! *breaks out the flame-thrower*

*GRRR*

Nothing makes a day start out poorly knowing the previous week it was 28 degrees and now it's -1.

Listen to KDWB tomorrow morning (early, like 5AM) because they're going to fly a load of Krispy Kremes to south-eastern side of the Cities in a helicopter and give 'em away all morning.

Egad.... can't determine which is worse; the Krispy Kreme or having to listen to K-DWeeB to 'win' some....

(any excuse to pick on that radio station)

Believe it or not, I drove all the way up to Maple Grove today, figuring I'd surprise my co-workers by bringing in a couple dozen Krispy Kremes. Guess what: Even though it's been open since Tuesday, there was still a long line of people out the door, and the line of cars for the drive-through was five blocks long (and moved verrry slowly)! I had to leave empty-handed to get back to work on time.

At least I got to smell them

I am so tired of this $hit! I want to get on the golf course. I want to do anything other than sit in my house and play on the computer.

I'm tired of that. We spent all winter doing that. Please spring. Please come soon.

Good news however, theres only 46 days until the days start getting shorter again.
