Greetings nnforumsters!

I've recently purchased a new Nvidia White Macbook that has severe horizontal banding all across the screen. You can find photographs of the problem here:

New white nVidia Macbook owners: check here to see if you have a defective LCD! - Mac Forums

I've done a little digging and apparently about half of the Macbooks currently in circulation have this problem. I based my purchasing decision after looking at a display model at the Apple Store with the good LG screen, only to end up receiving the terribly inferior Samsung screen. It's so obviously inferior, especially when you put them next to one another. I took mine into the Apple Store, put it side by side next to the LG display model and showed the Genius all the differences. The Genius and the assistant Manager both agreed that there was a serious problem with my screen that did not appear on the display model and agreed to replace the screen, but they have no way of knowing if the replacement is a good one or a bad one before they put it in.

If you have this problem as well please post! We need to get Apple to acknowledge this problem publicly.

There's something wrong with trying to warn other customers of a problem they might encounter? There's something wrong with trying to raise awareness of this problem?

Wait, there are MacBooks without defective displays? White, black, aluminum, every one I've seen has the banding/other issues.

Disregard the FUD. It's the usual attempt to bait people into a flame war.

No this isn't true. Many do have good screens. I've seen them.

I'm bitter about this after recommending MacBooks to my father and my sister and they both got horrible displays.

I've also never seen a MacBook with a reasonable display, but they probably exist.

Apple has used any of four different displays in its plastic MacBooks.

Mine is actually quite decent - since using SuperCal, I'm very happy with it.

the 20006 or 7 2.0Ghz MacBook in my .sig was good. Gave away to GF and replaced with 2.4 Unibody.

So you're saying this really IS an issue and not a post ..... self-promoting?

This is a very real issue and I'm trying to generate awareness of it. I'd also like to hear from recent Macbook buyers if they have this problem and what LCD screen model they have. The post I linked to shows you how you can find out.
