Hi

I will be going to universtiy in september, and have been advised as to what software will be used. I have just ordered a mac mini, but an concerned that much of the software isnt available for mac.

Is there any chance anybody could give me an idea as tyo if these products are available, and also if how much they would cost in english pounds.

Macromedia MX Studio (Flash, Dreamwever, Fireworks, Freehand) Macromedia Director MX 2004

3D Studio Max
Adobe Suite including : Photoshop, Premiere, AfterEffects, Encore , Audition

QuickTime

Paintshop Pro

Just check out the Apple Store UK. Click the link for software and search through there.

Quicktime is made by Apple so you won't have a problem there. Most if not all of the Adobe products you have listed are available but you should check Adobe's website. The Macromedia apps should all be available. I'm don't know anything about Paintshop so you might have to look at their site.

contact your schools bookstore. you might get them at an edu discount.

Macromedia MX Studio and Macromedia Director MX 2004 are for the mac and can be discounted. so is Adobe Creative Suite except Encore and Audition which aren't on the mac.

I'm not sure if 3D Studio Max and Paintshop Pro are for the mac.

If you have Photoshop, you don't need Paintshop Pro (which is Windows only)

There's no Premiere or Encore for Macintosh, but for Macintosh you have Apple's DVD Studio Pro and Final Cut, which are generally considered superior anyway. (or you have iMovie and iDVD, which come free with your Mini and usually can get the job done)
