I'm trying build a website having a link to a specific page of a pdf file. According to Adobe and other sources, the link should have the form "http://www.server.com/filename.pdf#page=6" to go to page 6 of the pdf document, for example. But Safari ignores the page specification and always goes to page 1. The same goes if I try to view a file on my own system using "file:///Users/username/filename.pdf#page=6".
I've tried similar links with Firefox. I don't have Firefox set up to display pdf's in the browser, so it asks if I want to open the file in Preview. If the link is an "http://..." link, Preview goes to page 1, same as Safari. But if the link is a "file:///..." link, Preview jumps to the desired page!
Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know of any solutions? I'm using Safari 2.0.3 and Firefox 1.5.0.1 under Mac OS 10.4.5.
