I'm not going to install this on my xbox due to the Live factor.

I can't view the site at work since it's probably blocked by our server, but could anyone tell me if the "Boots all Xbox 1 originals on Xbox 360" part means that it's boot all the xbox 1 originals that are on the xbox.com xbox1 game compatability list, or all xbox 1 games?

I ask out of curiosity, since I'm not installing this because if it gets me banned from xbox live i wouldn't be impressed, but more because when my wife and I bought our xbox360 last week she got an xbox 1 game, Spongebob, which didn't work.
We checked the game compatability listing and there is one spongebob game which works, but not the one we bought.

It would be very interesting if this hack could make this play all xbox 1 games, but microsoft has some reason why by default the xbox360 can't.

On a side note. Best Buy let us return the Spongebob game. I didn't think they would because of their software piracy concerns, but they were cool about it.

Very cool. Another step in making a used 360 viable to add to my collection!

But, I'm also fairly certain MS will patch this exploit via Live.

My guess is that Xtreme is a program you can use to back up XBox discs, maybe to the hard drive or something.

From the slashdot article, it's just an exact clone of the disc on a DL DVD disc

It lets you play backed-up games on an XBox 360: in other words, you can copy a game from the original DVD onto your hard drive and play it from there.

Or at least, that's the official story. What most people use it for is to download pirated games, copy them to the 360's hard drive, and then play the games from there. It's not unlike using ROM images from older consoles, except that there is no emulator involved.

Let's be clear… now that is a system seller.

I knew there was a good reason for them sticking with regular DVDs for their games
