It is dead silent! This is a welcome relief after my 17" G5 Jet Engine.

Hopefully it stays silent - I just unboxed it and have used it for about an hour installing programs and transferring music from my MacBook.

Also, the speakers sound great.

Now that I've used it for a few hours I'll make some comments.

The speakers are awesome.

I'm getting used to the mouse and thus far I like it but I haven't jumped into all the gestures available yet.

The keyboard is too small (identical to my MacBook keyboard) - I kind of wish I would have gotten a full sized wired keyboard with the number pad. Aside from the size of the keyboard, the keys are nice and easy to push with a good feel.

When I was burning/compressing a DVD on my G5 I could hear the fan from across the house. Otherwise it was a great computer.

Back to the new one, I just used the SD slot and it was so much easier than plugging in my camera/phone to transfer files.

I don't like those chicklet-like keyboards in general, but yeah, I ordered the wired keyboard with numeric keypad and USB 2 x 2 ports.

Nice bonus, but a USB 2 SD reader is about $15.

Yeah I have a USB SD reader but I just don't want the clutter and everything sitting around on the desk. Either way I'm very happy thus far.

I think you were smart getting the wired keyboard. Did you get a 27" model also?

Going a little off topic with the keyboard, I would have to agree with you. I bought the mini wired keyboard separately for my PowerMac and it definitely has a nice feel to it when pressing the keys. I'm assuming the ones that comes with the new iMacs feel the same even though it's the wireless version.

Even though it's the same layout as my MBP it feels better than the laptop. My MBP keys feel a little stiff in comparison. The external keyboard has a nice cushy feel to it. I also like how I can go back and forth from my laptop and desktop without relearning any keys.

We just got ours too! We are so excited, my wife is loading Office 2008 as I type this message. We also bought a new 1TB Time capsule, that was incredibly easy to set up as well. Our old 20" G5 iMac looks puny in comparison.

Actually, I had the latest model G5 (20"), and it was quiet.

My C2D iMac has always been silent. For about 2-2.5 years now. Why did you expect this would be noisy?

I still prefer the old black Pro keyboard, but I don't mind the new ones. My only real complaint is the lack of a wireless "full" keyboard with numpad.

Ordered on the 12th free shipping, BTO with Wired Keyboard, got here on the 23rd - loving it so far, no screen flicker as I've heard rumors of and absolutely smokes using the new 64 bit Handbrake! Only problem I've had is finding desktop backgrounds anywhere but interfacelift.com!

I've had my 27 I7 for a few weeks now and love it...running Ubuntu and Windows 7 very smoothly as well via VMWare Fusion. Any ideas on some good Mac games? This is my first Mac in a while with a decent video card so I'm excited to get back into some gaming!

I have the Core I5 8GB and love it. As for gaming i have COD4 and Bioshock and they are incredible on this 27" maxxed out at 2560x1440. Very smooth no choppiness at all..
