Perhaps this needs to be in developer forum, but... it might just be my ignorance of Firefox...
On my Mac, images that are hosted on a different site do not display (i.e.: src="http://myotherdomain.com/img/cutepic.jpg")
The <img... tag is in the source code as shown by Firefox.
There is NO problem at all seeing these through Safari or through Windows/Explorer or Windows/Firefox.
I can find no setting in Mac Firefox preferences that seems to be able to affect this. [No add-ons to my Mac Firefox]
Can anybody please give me a clue?

Are you saying you don't see images at all in Firefox:mac?
You're problem isn't very clear.

Sorry:
I can see images that are based on the site (say: www.THISdomain.com) visited:
<img src="http://www.THISdomain.com/img/cutepic.jpg" <- so it gets image from directory "img" on SAME server (whether absolutely reffd or relatively)
But FF does NOT display image (tho Safari, IE, FF/Windows do) from a REMOTE site:
<img src="http://www.myOTHERdomain.com/img/cutepic.jpg" <- image from DIFF server
Does that make any sense?

Does Firefox display sigs in this forum for you? Cause they are all hosted on domains other than macnn.com.

Excellent test question, TETENAL...
I does display TEXT signs. But NOT graphics (like yours )(whereas Safari does).
So does YOUR FireFox/Mac display Graphic sigs (like TETENAL's) of this forum?

Following up: I check my wife's OS X 10.3 FF(1.5.0.4) and it DOES show the external graphics on this page, but my FF/Mac 2.0.0.2 doesNOT.
Surely there's a setting / pref (and I really rather not start trashing prefs & restarting if avoidable).

Love Calm: do you have any Firefox add-ons installed?

It surely does sound like a setting in some ad-blocker add-on.

No add-ons; no ad-blockers (tho "block pop-ups" is checked, as it is on wifey's ibook): I've hardly touched it since downloading a few months back.
The only preference that might be related is under "Content": "Load images automatically" -- which IS checked, as it was from installation.
Guess I could look to see if there's a .1 upgrade that I could download and install - just in case that worked.
Anyway, the key thing is that YOU guys don't have this issue -- and that it's an issue for signatures in the forums: so it's not just something being bad about behavior of my server at www .myOTHERdomain.com
Do let me know if you think of anywhere else to look. thanks!

Downloading 2.0.0.6 now "just to see" (wishfully) what that does.

Well, here I am running a new FF 2.0.0.6, and I still don't see signature images in these forums ( but of course all the ads' jpegs show just fine).
And just to be sure I went to the Add-ons menu and it showed installed only: DOM-inspector and Talkback (to send Mozilla crash reports).
Disabling DOM-inspector and restarting changed nothing.
PUZZLING.
Nothing to do but trash prefs?

I think before you go to the depth of trashing a preferences file you should UNINSTALL Firefox, restart the computer (yes, I mean a full restart) and then reinstall FF. It's possible that the preferences are indeed the problem, but it could be a few other things as well. Uninstalling, restarting, and reinstalling should kind of sweep up any basic Firefox issues and hopefully fix this issue. If not, at least you know you have a clean installation of Firefox, and it's not using some old preference left over from a previous install.

Sounds like a reasonable approach, gh.
The Firefox HELP does not give any reference to uninstalling FF.
I've always understood that for OS X application-removal is just basically TRASHing the app.
...and then deleting any related app-assistance or app-prefs if you're really tidy about things.
?¿?

Well I guess I'm not ready for my epitaph (see sig.):
Trashing the Mozilla & FF prefs did it... I can no see your glorious sig images (among other things).
Wifey will never believe it: back in the days of Sys 9.0 I was forever being the hero-geek with that little strategy.

Congrats! Trashing prefs can be a wasted effort if there's something buried deep inside the app that's doing your weirdness.
