Historically estimated ship dates have been just that: estimates. They can vary in either direction but IMO sooner is more likely with the new MBPs.

Indeed, I've noticed MBP orders shipping 2-4 days earlier than advertised (in general).

Earlier than the estimate is pretty typical. My wife's iBook showed up before Apple's web site said it was even done being built!

My C2D MBP shipped substantially earlier than Apple's estimate - Oct 27 v.s. Oct 31st.

I'm also hopeful that I'll take delivery tomorrow (Left Newark, NJ early this morning, I presume for NYC where it's being delivered) which will also be sooner than Apple's estimate - October 30 v.s. Nov 1.

It's looking like mine may arrive on the original ship date. I just hope FedEx doesn't park it in a warehouse for two days.
Now that everyone knows it's just a matter of waiting for 1.20.09.

FedEx delivered MY MBP one business day early. That is, on Friday instead of Monday. I was VERY pleased!

I ordered a 15" 2.33ghz with 160gb hard drive on sat.
my ship date is on or before Nov 2 with delivery on or before Nov 7. I paid for 2 -3 day shipping.
The guy who I talked to when I ordered it said it was a good possibility I would have it by this Fri Nov 3.
I hope he is right.

Since I ordered my glossy on Thursday, and have the same quoted ship time, I think we can safefly assume that Apple is making the glossy screen orders in batches . . .

Too bad for me, but this explains why mine hasn't shipped yet (although it's more or less showing up on my credit card transaction history now . . . perhaps shipping tonight?)

I ordered last a 15" 2.33 160HD Matte last night, and I was charged last night. There's no way it's shipped yet. Estimated ship date of Nov. 3, estimated arrival date of Nov. 13.

They started building it last night, so they charged you last night-which was pretty much "tomorrow" in China, where they assemble the computers, by the way. Note that the computer may ship before Friday, and will almost certainly arrive on or before the 13th barring significant transportation problems (huge floods, megatornados, Mothra attacks, etc.). It's cool.

Mine just shipped! I've updated my original post to reflect this information (post #2). Fedex says delivered on Monday, Apple says Friday. Unfortunately, I'm flying out for the weekend on Friday (at about 11:30am, about when the FedEx guy arrives!!). There's a small chance I'll be able to pick it up before I have to leave, but . . . probably not the best idea in the world.

Anybody else out there order the 17"? I ordered a stock 17" with matte display. Ordered on October 30th and have an estimated ship dte of Nov. 14. How does that compare to your ship date for 17" MBPs?

It doesn't look as though mine shipped today (the estimated shipping day). I saw someone above said their's shipped on Saturday, so I guess there is still a possibility of it shipping this weekend. Figures, most everyone else gets their's early but me. I ordered on the 31st (2.33 160HD Matte 2GB). My checking account has been charged, but my Apple Credit account has not. I guess the funds have been reserved because I only have $5.00 available credit on the acount, but the balance is still zero. Weird.

Well, I odered mine Monday Oct 30th with regular free shipping. It had a ship date of Nov 2 and estimated arrival by Nov 9. I called back on like Wednesday Nov 1 to change the shipping to 2-day shipping. Ship date remained the same but estimated arrival was Nov 7. It shipped Thursday, Nov 2 from Shanghai and got to the Eastern US Friday Nov 3rd so I have it to play with for the weekend! Touché! 15.4' with 2.33, 2Gg and 160GB here and I am loving it.

I ordered my 15" on Oct 26th through Educational institutional channels.

They had the shipping set to ship when everything was available and since we had also ordered a 17", I wanted that changed. That took a couple of days to get changed because of paperwork, etc. It was finally changed to ship by Nov 3., after finally being changed to ship separately on Oct 31.

This morning (Nov 4) I login to see that not only has it not shipped, but the new estimated ship date is Nov 29!?!? Apple Store is still reporting shipment in 1-3 business days.

Mine shipped on Saturday, Nov. 4th! I gotta admit, when someone said their's shipped on a Saturday, I didn't believe it. Those Chinese must be working really, really hard.

Anyways, I'm hoping I see mine on Monday or Tuesday. I opted for the free shipping because I figured it's gonna have to be flown from China to the US anyway, and I didn't think it would really speed it up all that much.

EDIT: I just noticed on the FedEx tracking page where it says "Status" it should say "In Transit" but it says "shipment exception." Estimated delivery is Nov. 8th. Comon' FedEx!

Ah. The dreaded shipment exception. Sometimes customs (in the U.S., at least, I can't remember exactly if it was either country) will actually hold a shipment to inspect, etc. I don't want to rain on your parade, but it may take an extra few days to a week. Remember though, I could be totally wrong, but I thought I'd give you the worst-case scenario in getting this, and set your expectations for the worse. Sorry; it's happened before to me and others here.

I just tracked it using that link and it said it left the FedEx ramp in Shanghai at 9:41PM. I'm on a friends computer right now, and for some reason the page won't fully load with Internet Explorer. The fact that it left the ramp is a good sign though, right? The FedEx site only had tracking info available up until 2pm where it said it was picked up.

EDIT: It's now in Anchorage, AK and the status says Int'l shipment release! That sounds better than shipment exception.

OK, it's on the FedEx vehicle for delivery! That's fast! And I didn't even get expedited shipping. Shipment from China on Saturday and on vehicle for delivery on the east coast of Florida on Monday - you gotta love FedEx. So, it shipped one day late from Apple, but will be delivered two days early via FedEx.

My BTO MBP 15" 2.33, 2GB RAM, 160HD, Glossy was ordered on the day they posted it on the Apple Online Store. The estimated ship date was Oct 31, with an estimated delivery date of Nov 7. Using the standard shipping, it arrived on Nov 1.

Ordered 2 2.33 GHz MBPs with 160 GB Drives, 2 GB RAM, matte screens on Oct. 26 through the K12 Institutional store. Original ship date was Nov. 2. Then they slipped to Nov. 6.

This morning, they have changed to Nov. 30.

There must be a problem then. I ordered on the 31st and it was scheduled to ship on 11/3. It did. I got it Monday the 6th!

I ordered a couple MBPros on 11-5-2006.

One (15/2.16/1G/120/128VRAM) shipped from Shanghai on 11-7-2006 at 9:48 PM (missing the FedEx truck for the night -- it had the exception flag on the tracking results).

The other (15/2.16/2G/120/128VRAM) was a BTO and it still hasn't shipped yet... I knew I should've ordered the RAM from a third party and upgraded myself!

** Update #1**

The BTO machine shipped on 11-8-2006 @ 12:06 PM, so it should arrive at the same time as the first machine! Woohoo!!!

Also, the shipping times I posted are times in Shanghai. As they're atleast 10 hours ahead of us, these babies will have a nice long ship day to make their way to the U.S.

Finally, I was originally quoted shipping times of 11/7-9. They shipped on 11/7 and 11/8 (Shanghai time). Apple's really cranking these out!

** Update #2**

The first "standard configuration" MBP arrived 11-9-06, at 10:29 AM CST. Madness...

The BTO machine must be somewhere over the Pacific, because it hasn't arrived yet.

** Update #3**

Excellent the BTO MBP arrived this morning (11-10-2006) @ 10:27 AM CST. Outstanding. Kudos to Apple for making, shipping, and getting a machine in my hands within 5 days of ordering it!

I wanted to get the new MB Pro 2.33 standard configuration with a glossy screen. I called the 3 local Apple stores and non of them had any in stock (they had the matte screen ones) One guy at the Apple store told me that the best thing to do is to order it online but I read on the forums that people have been waiting for awhile so I decided to wait.
I went to the Apple store on Sun. and although the sales person didn't seem very happy about it, he did tell me about a reservation system that they have at the store. I entered my contact information and the desired configuration and lef the store (you don't need to pay for it in advance) Yesteday I got a call from the Apple store that they just got some in and reserved it for me till the end of the day
So if you are one of unlucky ones that left the Apple sore enpty handed, make sure you tell the sales person that you want to RESERVE it and they'll put it on hold for you when it comes! Just thought I will post this here for those who didn't know (I didn't)
The MB Pro was is replacing my white MB. So far I'm very happy with it's performance and speed. I run Win XP using Parallels and OS X and switch back and forth. The machine doesn't show any signes of slowness... I love it! Get theis machine if you can afford it over the 2.16.

My only complaint thus far is that the right side of the screen is slightly darker than the left. More to the bottom right. It's a little different depending on the angle, but head on it's noticeable....barely. My space key also squeaks. That is about it. Everything else is perfect.

I got a terrible email from Apple today: ordered my 17" the day it was announced- been hearing of everyone getting their machines early. The whole time, my ship day has been Nov. 7th, and has not budged. Today, get an email telling me that it did not ship (today is the 7th), and the new estimate is now the 14th.

What's more strange- the Apple online order status page is down for maintanance. Don't know what that means?

What's more strange- the Apple online order status page is down for maintanance. Don't know what that means?
they're probably unable to meet demand that fast. I have a feeling the Core 2s are very popluar

I realize most of you are talking about ordering from the Apple store, but I ordered from Smalldog.

This is unreal.

I ordered a MacBook Pro on 10/30 when it was still backordered. They are STILL backordered while the new (just released today!) Macbooks on their website are shipping within 7-10 days!
* EDIT * I just found out the 7-10 days is an automated status. Will revert to b/o.

See for yourself: Smalldog site
See the BTO one I ordered: Smalldog BTO computer

Order Date: Oct 30, 2006
Expected Ship Date: STILL UNKNOWN
Actual Ship Date: STILL UNKNOWN
Arrival Date: STILL UNKNOWN

Details:
2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM-2x1GB *** upgrade
160GB Serial ATA Drive@5400rpm *** upgrade
15" Matte Widescreen Display

I think the only machines that have shipped so far are the 15" MBPs. I don't believe any of the new 17s are shipping yet. I ordered one myself on Oct. 29th and have had an estimated ship date of Nov. 14th since the time of my order. I have a sinking feeling we are going to see that date slide back even later into the month, but I will be pleasantly shocked if they prove me wrong.
