Ok, just got a macbook a month ago (2.0 Ghz, 2 GB of ram, first mac ever) and was wondering what programs are out there (preferably shareware/freeware apps) for converting mpegs to DIVX. I know handbrake does a nice job of ripping DVDs to divx and h.264, but my needs are different.
I built a Windows Media Center Edition based HTPC which I use as my DVR - it works great. I specifically record college football games, cut the commercials out with dvrmsToolbox, compress them to divx using Roxio's VideoWave, and upload the games to fans via bittorrent. This is what I used to do on my PC. I doubt there is a version of dvrmsToolbox for mac, but is there a simple app that will convert large (~10 GB) mpeg files to DIVX? I'd like to do as much of this work as possible on my mac without 1) Tying up resources on my HTPC, and 2) Boot Camp-ing my Macbook.
