Goodie - another year the Packers will have a QB that throws 25INTs.

Brett was great once, but it's time already... the Pack as a lot of holes, and he won't do anything to add to his legacy by playing another year on that team. Just adds an extra year that Pack fans will suffer.

Another example of when a superstart doesn't know when to hang them up.

I predict its going to be a long year for him.

it's a risk for Favre — his team is not that much better than last year and he probably doesn't want to end his career like:

"Brett Favre was an excellent quarterback except when his skills evaporated in his last 2 years in the league."

I have high hopes for Favre. One season means nothing. Denis Bergkamp had a bad season back in 2001, but then he just came back with full force and has been damn fine ever since.

I'm looking forward to see Favre next season!

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

OK, he needs to just stop. I understand wanting to go out on a better note...

But, so did Pedro Martinez in the ALCS against the Yanks in 2003. Unfortunately Grady Little agreed.

Poor Grady.

Of all the great QBs there have been, only one has been able to go out on top in the fashion John Elway did.

Brett and the Packers will limp through another mediocre or worse season.

I agree, he's going to have a ton of interceptions and only a handful of touchdowns.

Don't forget he's now got to learn a new offense as there is a new couch, while I'm sure there won't be any major or radical changes he's got to do things a little different.

The problem with the packers is they needed a radical change, while last season they had a ton of injuries, Brett was the one heaving the ball where shouldn't have. Will that change? Before he used to do that he was a little stronger and a little faster. Plus the receivers were better, now that his receivers are healthy that should help a little bit but Bretts biggest advantage/disadvantage was that he would just wing it and throw the ball up thinking he could thread the needle. He's slowed down enough that the defenders can now pick off his passes.

He doesn't need that many more completions/touchdowns to pass Marino... I think he'll get it done.

Maybe they will go 7-9...?

Woah, I read through this thread thinking it was created today. Until I got down to Rickey's post.

Poor Brett. This season is going to be a very long one for the Packers.

I don't know... They were 8 / 8 this season. I would expect at least the same next season, with a possible wild card. After that things will be glum for a few years.

let the guy play, all this "tarnishing his legacy" bs is crap. does anyone think less of Jordan because he came back and stunk it up with the wizards? he's living the best years of his life and what the hell does he care what people think about his legacy after he's dead? i don't think there's ever been anyone that's ever thought "man, i better hang them up right now, don't want to have to add a footnote to my tombstone."

<yeah, i was listening it ESPN radio today, but i agree>

Great - another chance for the NFC Champion Chicago Bears to exact revenge for all those years of suffering Brett gave us. Hopefully they'll get to play twice in games that matter so the Bears care.

The big question is - who throws more picks in 2007 - Favre or Grossman?

Brett is being selfish - the Packers need to rebuild, but they can't ditch their over the hill QB. It will take a few years for a new QB to get the feel for the team, but until then, Brett will keep the Pack near the mid to bottom of the NFC.

Haven't seen too much Green & Gold in the reports out of Miami this week - but lots of #8 Blue & Orange Jerseys!

(Of course, way more #54's...)

Big Gary Kubiak or Jeff Lewis fans? Great to know there are so many Broncos fans at the Super Bowl that there are a lot of old Kubiak jerseys running around. And Patrick Chukwurah, too. Nice!

To me he can play as long as he wants. I just don't want to see the Packers play on Monday or Sunday night football anymore. The announcers do nothing but fall all over themselves, talking about how he used to be great, blah blah and if he will come back blah blah blah and if this is the last time we will see him play in this stadium....against this team...blah blah blah....and then oh by the way, the game we are watching really sucks...

blah

If he quit playing, he could probably go heartburn free without Prilosec OTC.

i think everyone who said brett favre sucked, should just stop watching football immediatly, because you guys are idiots..maybe you should turn on espn and watch what he has been doing to the nfl, talking about going out in fashion, how about with his 4th mvp (NFL Record) seems like he has every record he could have possibly broke..how about a second super bowl win this year??? maybe..you'll just have to stay tuned

Go Pack Go.

Brett's playing one of his best seasons. It's just fun to watch.
It's incredible what Green Bay has achieved with this young of a team.
10-2, whodathunkit.

But he still threw alot of interceptions a couple years ago... and in the playoffs, some of his performances = chokefied.

that said, he is having a great season this year.

A great offensive line and some receivers finally stepping up for him this year. So he doesn't have to force things, like last year. He tried to do to much last years because no one could step up. That was the reason for most of his interceptions last year. Trying to get stuff to happen and no one stepped up to respond to the challenge. This year many are stepping up and it shows all over the team. He doesn't have to force anything, he can be surgeon and pick his spots.

There's no way he deserves to win the MVP award. Then again, he didn't deserve the 3rd one either (where he tied with Barry Sanders). That being said, it's hard to argue against the opinion that he's having his very best year.
