Judging from the lack of pics, you're obviously making the numbers up and can't be trusted.

A lot... $70 a month.

At least, through many, many complaints and a nice friendship with a man named Abha (spelling may be off) in India, I managed to get them to upgrade me 2 tiers higher for free. It used to be like 300 MB for 24 hours and speeds barely above that of dial-up.

Oh, and when I hit that limit, I don't get over-charged like I'd sometimes wish, I get knocked off the network for 24 hours.
I have returned... 2020 MacBook Air - 1.1 GHz Quad-Core i5 - 16 GB RAM

Damn, man. Hard to believe this is the US. Are you out in the boonies somewhere where this the best/only option available to you?

I'm in a small town, so the best I can get is some latency-ridden Verizon DSL. But that's only $30 after the first year ($20 right now)

Edit: Actually I have cable available to me, but I'd rather keep my anal virginity.

my office speed:

69484 kb/s down
55382 kb/s up

my home speed is about 1/10 that, thanks to Time Warner constantly futzing with the internets.

Yep, I'm out in the boonies. Best option there is. There's another company called Wild Blue, which uses towers to send DSL to receivers, but you have to have direct line-of-sight to the tower, and there's a huge hill blocking it for me.

CenturyTel DSL, ~$55/month. I just realized that it's been a long time since providers (at least mine) have advertised upload speeds.

I'm envious of these 80,000 download speeds (with huge upload speeds as well), that's just incredible.

man that's sucky. We are only a few hundred metres from the exchange here. Been getting a load of audible noise on the line when phoning, which is probably cutting the speed right down. Time to get that checked I think.

Brand new 8 megabit cable from MediaCom.

$20/month for the first year, $50 rebate. Not a bad deal for where I am.

Koralotov, get BT to check your line, push them to replace it if possible.
You should be at least getting 8mb.

I am at a lousy hotel for a couple weeks and this is what I'm getting. And yes, they advertise it as High Speed Internet Access. This rating is actually an improvement since yesterday when the downlink was around 100 Kb and ping was 600 ms.

I was with Suddenlink, getting 10MB down (although it was skipping a beat now and then, logging me off of the Playstation Network).

I switched to AT&T, now getting about 5.5MB down, so I'm switching.

Here at work:

Does the almost even upload speed have anything to do with the fact that we do a live webcast three times a week? I think I remember our IT guy saying he was getting it bumped up.

Yeah, damn government is interfering with my export business.

If it wasn't for upload caps in place on the router, my upload would equal the download. I don't really do any uploading at work for it to be an issue. I must say though it sure is nice to be able to download Snow Leopard seeds from ADC in a few minutes.

I'm only getting 4200 and change down and around 675 up on my DSL service. Unfortunately, that's the max speed I can get, unless I pay big bux.

OTOH, I do like my internal network speed after laying down some network cable and adding a couple of cheap Gigabit switches.

Just got a Virgin Mobile MiFi card.

Basically mobile 3G broadband.

$40/mo for unlimited data. Although my accounts shows 40G/mo.

Could definitely be a replacement for DSL. Ping times are decent, but not great.

So some notes on my connection:

- My modem is only rated to 30Mb/s (Mototola surfboard SB5101)
- The multiunit building I'm in has ~20 y/o RG59. I'm also going to run quad shield RG6 to the dmarc (It's a condo unit we own and have access to it).
- If the above doesn't improve the upload I'll add a Tx booster.
- My area already has DOCSIS 3.0 avalible so if I replace my modem I can go up to 100Mb/s
