There's this themer Essorant who created a skin for Windowblinds seen here:

and with his permission I ported it over to the Mac platform...well almost...there's still quite a few elements to be themed. This is what I got so far:

Aqua:

Graphite:

Question is should I waste my time and finish porting it or should I just forget it and keep it to myself?

Max, Swiz...I don't know how you guys do it....creating a theme is long, tiring and frustrating. Hope the pics load...I think the trick of renaming pics to .txt works

I think it looks pretty tight Dace. My only suggestion from those screenshots is that the stretch part of the titlebar looks a bit flat and would look nicer with some depth but then you run into the isue of not properly porting his theme. Ive been wanting to do a sort of "Better Aqua" theme which feels much like Aqua but improves upon many of the things I feel are shortcomings; and this theme seems to be doing a variation on that. I say keep going on it so long as you will be able to keep at the grindstone and have the release be tight and complete. Its cool

Those sliders are something else. It looks like there is no actual slider bar there... just a gap in the folded over slider walls. Very cool looking. Why don't you post a full size screenshot for those of us with little hi-res screens and bad eyes?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Regarding the scroll bars, I like the inactive look better than the foreground. But again, this is where the porting issue comes into play.

You must be psychic!

Here they are:

Skin dock A

Skin dock B (pattern has 90% transperancy)

Skin dock 1

Skin dock 2 (pattern has 90% transperancy)

I'm also intent on theming the login panel but it isn't as easy as it was with 10.1 Any developpers or" "Interface Builder" savvy" out there willing to help me? Pretty please

Update Report:

Ok development is going steady...I created a boot panel and a matching customized login panel, also among other things I customized the patterns (thanks to Max for his help).

Here's a pic of the Menu bar Selected, what do you think? Menu background fill is set at 95% transperancy.

That looks fantastic, I can't wait to use it. I've been trying to find a "better" Aqua so to speak and have yet to find it. I think I may have now though, thanks for developing it and your willingness to distritbute it.

I like the stripes in the menu itself a lot but i don't like the selected menu item state. I think it would be better if the stripes cover the menubar from top to bottom on the selected item...but then again...what do I know?

Dace: Looks good. When I was using Windows a few months ago, I had the Seer theme through WindowBlinds (Window's version of Duality). The Seer theme is simple and elegant. I think you're doing a good job.

Thank you all for your feedback and support...building a theme isn't much fun, only the end result is fun.

Ok so here's the menu selected #2 Which do you prefer? This one or the previous? Is the white text fine or a strain on the eyes?

I like the 1st one better. I'd recommend keeping the stripes on the selection portion, and removing the stripes from, the top menu bar. I really dig the 'pushed' look of the menubar items, please keep that.

This theme rules. All this themeing makes me want to re-do my theme

I'm presently theming all the scroll resources...must be over a 100 of them Ahhh!! Ok, its not that bad, but still quite a lot of work. I themed the tabs and tab panel...and I had been wondering what to do with the brushed apps, but 10.2.3 fixed that by giving brushed apps their own widgets, So I'll just leave brushed apps as they are.

I am somewhat taking my time...but hey I'm not on the clock. So don't worry I'll realease a beta version asap.

You want to give me a nice Christmas gift? (just kidding, although if you donated at least 1 measely dollar I'd be happy)

I've decided to theme the brush apps after all. Here are 4 mock-ups, which do you prefer?

Sample 1

Sample 1B

Sample 2

Sample 2B

Get rid of that striped background, the widgets dont fit at all with it. The widgets are nice but that pattern is an eye sore with them. It would seem from your other screenies that the theme is more or less based on a white aesthetic so stick with it in brushed too.

Looks good Dace. I know what you're saying about theming taking forEVER. I'm creating an orange-colored theme and man I'm thinking it'll take me another 2 weeks at my rate.
