I agree, they really outdid themselves in this one. Much more polished. The GUI preferences are in the right places now.

Activity viewer is saying the beta 7 is consuming 58 MB of real RAM, and 112 MB of virtual. Hmmm... that's a bit high on the memory usage scale.

I haven't done a ton of digging yet to determine what's going on. For now it's nice, but Proteus works as well. Both are just around because I have a few friends who use MSN and Yahoo anyway... I use iChat by default because I like the integration with mail and address book. Oh and because I use rendezvous messaging at work as well.

Beta 7 has rendezvous in it.

can you do a sample and send it to [email protected] whenever that high usage is happening? thanks

I never had a use for rendezvous. *shrug*

I would just like iChat to have multiple server abilities. *cry*

I use rendezvous with my housemate (he's like - all the way up stairs!), problem is every time my machine sleeps, or I close adium, when it logs back on, it shows me as a contact in my own contact list under the rendezvous category!

I haven't got RC5 yet (I'm at work, sans powerbook), but as of RC4 I'm still having the problem where I appear in my own contact list under Rendezvous.

I was having problems with last week's nightly and adding and removing contacts from my contact list, especially if those contacts are in my address book. I'll do some more testing with the latest code, tonight.

In chat windows, with very long msn names (and possibly other protocols, not tested) there is an issue with the message text colliding with the sn text. (as of RC1)

Try downloading 0.7 later today, or 0.7rc6 and see if its still there.

I think the chat window needs to be less generic looking.

I think that's a problem with Smooth Operator, the message view style I bet you are using. The default message view style, Mockie, does not have that problem.

An updated version of Smooth Operator is in the works with that fixed and many more enhancements. Being done by a contributor outside of the development team, its development is not tied to the app progress.

It needs to look more Aqua like. Look at iChat for example.

Anyhow.. .7 has been finally released.

iChat is brushed, so it needs the thicker border in order to make it look right. What in the world are you referring to specifically?

my suggestion would be the ignore button. that post obviously came spur of the moment (he loved adium up the thread a few posts) and wasn't serious.

don't sweat it tick. .7 is hot.

The borders are TOO thin..

Maybe I will make a GUI make up of what I think it should look like.

I mean look at Fire.

I don't think it would do me any good.

It works fine the way it is. It's just a personal preference.

BTW, Adium has been crashing on me a lot this morning.

The Fire interface should be an example of what *not* to do.

In fact, all apps that offer dynamic toggling between Aqua and metal are GUI Hall of Shame material software.
