Hi,

I find that despite using sw like DVD Backup or MactheRipper and choosing to rip a DVD and make a file region free (or region 1), when I rip and then burn a Region 2 DVD it won't play in my DVD player, while rips and burns made from Region 1 DVDs will. What am I doing wrong?

Slim.

To make it region free with MactheRipper, mark all the region boxes 1-6. (a total of 6, right?) Instructions here.

I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but surely it's got to be easier to just chip your player (or get a new one) to play multi-region?

if you do decide to go that route, here's a list of DVD player hacks you might try using on your standalone player.

Hi,

I'm using MactheRipper and marking the regions as 1-6, but it's still no go in my DVD player. There must be some other issue when ripping Region 2 DVDs.

Does it play on a Mac (or PC)? Or on a region 2 player? (Dumb question really, as you probably don't have one).

If it plays on a Mac/PC then at least you know it's not the disk per se.

Is your region 2 DVD a PAL disk? Maybe your player doesn't want to handle a PAL stream.

It's a PAL stream, and that's probably the problem.

I need to convert from PAL to NTSC - got DVD Converter, but you have to use OSex to make one large VOB file to then convert, and I haven't yet figured that out yet.

I used OSex to make one large VOB file and used DVD Converter to do a PAL to NTSC conversion, but all I got was a large MP2 audio file. What am I doing wrong?

The VOB file played fine in VLC, by the way.
