Well im sure something better will come around from the way they are talking, who knows...
Some really excellent players there once done a bit of digging around.
Love the animation on that mercury face, its sleek as is bbx platinum/tycho. The players are so small neat tidy and slick.

This is also very nice, reminds me of one of The Skins Factory designs.

Im surprised audion faces haven't turned into widgets yet, they are so small they would be perfect for such a thing.

R.I.P. Audion. You were a kick ass app back in the day. (Pre-iTunes 2)

I got the email also, because I own it.
I wish they integrated it with the iTunes library and used a similar playlist setup as iTunes... It could have filled the skinless mp3 player void on the Mac if they kept it updated... I guess widgets will have to do. Btw why doesn't anyone make cool iTunes controllers like the skins posted above?
Edit: I sent feedback ( [email protected] ) asking them to make there new skin system into an iTunes controller. They even had that test app made (.zip, 655k).

One thing about this announcement that I think is positive is that Cabel posted the whole behind-the-scenes story of Audion. I knew most of the key points from Cabel, but not in the detail he put into the article. I think it's great for Mac users to get a glimpse of just how much goes on that they almost never get to hear about. It's easy for folks to scratch their heads and say "Why the heck doesn't <company> update <product>?", but there is so much more to it... I can fully understand their decision about Audion and I think it's the right choice, if bittersweet.
Here's a toast to Panic for all the hard work and inspiration: skl, gentlemen!

Whilst I never used Audion (it was big during the dark ages where I left the Mac world for a PC - OS X got me back though) the story makes for very interesting reading on what was essentially the birth of MP3 on the Mac.

Solsonic made the f2 face into a widget for itunes but never released it, he did a couple of other to but all are unreleasable and the guys realy busy at the moment. I'm planning to make my own itunes widget hopefully in an audionesque style I think everyone should give it ago and see who comes up with the best!
