I'm having problems installing MS Project 2003 on my XP bootcamp drive. The CD goes through the beginning of the setup and then stops when trying to cache install files to the local disk. I've tried restarting and I've tested my install CD on another (real) PC and it works fine. I've also been able to install Office 2003 Pro CD so the CD drive is working OK.

Any suggestions?

Disk space sounds like it's a problem. How much free space do you have? Have you emptied the Recycle bin? Have you defragged the Windows partition? I'm referring specifically to the Windows partition on your Mac, of course. Also, what format is that partition? FAT32 would not be the best choice, even if you really, really want to share stuff with OS X that way. NTFS works much better with XP, and it's more robust and fault tolerant.

I ran into a similar problem installing a game. I installed it, then ran into an error while files were being copied. When it crashed, I coudln't uninstall the program and couldn't get a second install to work. Ultimately, I removed my windows partition, recreated it, and reinstalled windows. This time, I installed every windows update I could get my hands on. (Which means selecting "custom" from the updates page, installing everything, rebooting, doing it again, etc.) Then I went a little further and (because it was a game) installed directx.

This time around, everything is much more solid. Programs like Trillian still give me a problem or two, but everything else works as it should.
