need help with my powermac g5 dp

my pm g5 stated acting up. is shut off on it own. at first it was once in a wile now
it starts up and 5min later it shuts down. i'm thinking power supply.
is there a way to check the power with a volt meter?
what pins and what should i be getting?
am i on the wrong track?

You're on the right track. Which specific G5 do you have?

Blow out the dust from the heat sink as well, could be a over heating problem. Visually inspect for leaking capacitors as well.

i took it out to the garage and used the big air compressor on it
boy was it dusty
reseated the power connector
working fine ever since

Be careful using a regular air compressor. Water can condense inside the air tank and you might blow nasty water all over the inside of your machine. Glad it's working for you again.
