Anyone heard if World of Warcraft (WoW) is going to be available for the mac at the same time as the pc? I noticed all the media downloads on the websites has both mac and pc links. And it seems at least lately that Blizzard has been into supporting the OSX platform.

I hope so though I'll have a what looks like a good MMORPG to play on my G5

Wow do I feel blind I looked all over there site for that information and some how missed it. I must have been tired

Hope it will run well on a 1.8Ghz G5 with a Radeon 9600. Though I am keeping my PC around for gaming and as a second computer.

Thanks again for setting me straight!

I probably won't do so well (if at all) on my 450MHz G4 Cube w/ ATI 7500... but I'll probably give it a try on my PC.

How exactly would you know that? First being no one really has a G5, and the other being the game isn't even out of internal beta yet.

I guess perhaps you could work for blizzard and they have G5s for testing, but that seems unlikely hehe

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Well shivery timbers. Then I guess he would know :b The game looks awesome and since SWG has not entertained me as hoped, and EQ2 sounds too much like EQ1 I have my eyes set on this game

I am really pleased to see Blizzard dedicated to the mac development. I hope it is profitable for them. I'll be sure to buy the mac version

I'd be interested in how they go about the dual development. Like are both PC and Mac versions opengl? (of course I'm assuming the mac one is at least)

Does WC3 run on it? If not, then I expect this game to do worse.

WC3 runs on my roomies 733 G4 tower with a GeForce 2 mx on it. It runs quite well on my G4 867 with a Radeon 9000. Though adding in a GIG of RAM this summer did improve things, a lot.

I would hope it would run on an 800 mhz iMac. Blizzard is quite good at developing games for Mac OS. I mean, come on, they always release a Mac version, and its usually within the same month (or at the exact same time) as the PC release. Plus, the ported Diablo II and Starcraft to OS X.

This is why I do not pirate Blizzard games. Although with a hybrid CD they'll never know that I bought it for my Mac.

Warcraft runs very well on the iMac, so I'm hoping for the best. Any feedback on this RBarris? (Rob?)

Our early results in testing World of Warcraft and Warcraft III on a pre-production Dual-2GHz G5 showed frame rates between 2 and 2.5 times that of a Dual-1.25GHz G4 system. That's with the existing "off the shelf" game code and no compiler changes yet.

I hope I don't hate myself later for not buying the Dual. I just really didn't want to spend the extra money, not to mention it seemed like people who were ordering the dual 2gigs were going to get them later due to supply. I also figured the 1.8 would be plenty powerful for what I'm doing, which is basically a little bit of everything just nothing hardcore

I guess I could always upgrade to the 2nd generation Dual G5 later

Either way I'm really really looking forward to WoW. I hope I can get into beta

It's nice to see Rob posting here and "other" places within the Mac community. Keep up the excellent work!

The latest screenshots look amazing. I can't wait for this game!! I am a total xCraft junkie (War and Star). I can't wait to be able to play inside the world. I hope to have a shiny new G5 to go with it too. So, take your time Blizzard!
