[:~] username% cd
Bad ! modifier: .

Does anybody know how to fix this, when i type cd something(name of a file) that's the message it shows:

[:~] username% cd Music
Bad ! modifier: .

Does anyone know how to fix it ?

Have you made any changes to your .tcshrc file? It looks like an alias must be screwing up cd.

Nope, but i installed X11, and since then i've been experiencing the problem !

Should i drag the X11 app. to the trash bin ???? Or is there some other way to unistall the X11 app package ???

what does it say? and does

unalias cd
fixes it?

In your home directory, check if you have a file called .tcshrc or .cshrc. If you do, you can fix the problem by editing that file. There are two ways to do it:

1. The "cleaner" way. There's probably a line in there that says something along the lines of alias cd 'somethingorother'. Find this line and put a hash mark before it--that comments it out so that it never gets executed.
2. The quicker way. Just put unalias cd at the end of the file.

(If you're wondering what .tcshrc is, it's a shell script that gets executed every time you open the tcsh shell. So any commands you put in there will be executed at the beginning of every session.)
